Welcome friends to Week 7 of the Patchwork Mystery Crochet Along!! That's right.. week 7!! I know these past 7 weeks have gone by SUPER FAST. I can't believe we are here already, it seems like just yesterday when we started Week 1.

My name is Anastasia Smith, I am the Designer behind Journey Chanel Designs and the Creator of Patchwork Mystery CAL!! I started this CAL as a way to just meet other Designer's like myself. I was wanting to make new crochet friends that understand what I go through everyday while getting to do what we ALL Love...CROCHET! Now we have a group of over 3500 people all showing these beautiful ladies love for their designs. I couldn't be happier with how big our group has gotten. I am in complete awe and so very humbled that you all wanted to join my group.

A little about me... I learned how to crochet when I was 8 years old by my Great Aunt. I was with my mom and my grandparent's visiting my Grandfather's sister, when I noticed she was crocheting. I have always been artsy so naturally i was intrigued. I asked her what she was doing and if she could teach me how to do it. My mom bought me 1 of those cheap kits at Wal-Mart with the Book and hooks for Beginners. I then taught myself on and off through out the years. I didn't really get back into crocheting until I was pregnant with baby #3. I started with little cute baby items here and there. When I got pregnant with baby #4, some artsy bug hit me and all of a sudden I was designing my items instead of following patterns. Off I went, and it's been non stop designing ever since.

A little about the pattern... When I first started designing I fell in LOVE with Vanessa Montoro's Garments. One in particular caught my eye, and i tried to recreate one of the stitches I seen in the dress. I ended up completely creating my own stitch on accident since i was still new to figuring this whole designing thing out. I ended up calling this the Fairy Wing Stitch and it ended up being my trademark. So of course I had to include it into my square since it represents me completely. After playing the stitch for a few months, I managed to figure out how to make it into a circle. When I did this, I realized that it looks like a flower.... a very pretty flower. So I used the Fairy Wings in the flower shape to represent me and then I used Front Post Treble Crochets on each side of the corners to represent my 4 daughters. Yes that's right FOUR Daughters!!! If you notice the Front Post Treble Crochets make the corners stand out. Just like my girls, they all stand out in different ways, but they are ALL still apart of me.

So without further adieu... Here is the Fairy Wing Flower Square. I hope you all Love it as much as my family does!

There are step by step photo tutorials along with a YouTube Video by my wonderful tester Sammi Leighton of Hook, Wine, and Stitches. We definitely couldn't have done this entire CAL without her help.
